Oracle DBA job description
Pontis
Corporation is currently looking for a Senior Oracle Database Administrator for
a full-time or contract position. This person will be responsible for providing
database administration support for the system of multiple clients of our
company running on different platforms and different versions of the Oracle
databases. This person will be based at our downtown Toronto office.
Job/Duties/Deliverables:
- Provide
production support of multitude of Oracle database systems for different
organizations
- Respond
to trouble tickets communicated via phone call or ticketing tool and
effectively communicate directly with client representatives
- Participate
in analyzing systems or problems having large or total organizational impact
- Proactively
update the status of a particular issue/problem to appropriate stakeholders
- Research
and identify potential resolutions to issues through external resources
(knowledge base, internet, Metalink, etc)
- Adhere
to Service Level guidelines to effectively and efficiently assist with
resolving issues and propagate that to the rest of the team.
Must
Have:
- Experience
as a Oracle DBA including 9i/10g/11g (4+ years)
- SQL
and PL/SQL (2 - 4 years)
- Standby
database and DataGuard
- RMAN
- Oracle
RAC and ASM
- Unix
Shell Script programming (2 - 4 years)
- Knowledge
and experience working with *nix systems
- Experience
supporting Oracle Applications systems
- Excellent
written and oral communication skills
- Ability
to properly document systems, processes and procedures

- Applications:
Oracle Applications. Functional experience is a plus
- Experience
in working directly with customers
